A View From My Hill

Today was the day. I could feel it in my blood, in my life substance. Today was the day to write another View From My Hill column for Happy Camp News.

I walked outside with my notebook, pen, and camera and headed down the dirt road to where my yellow chair sat in the shade of a small pine tree on a mostly-sunny hillside. I love these sunny, springy days. In my efforts to take the perfect photo of a tiny flower I soon found myself sitting comfortably on the hill itself instead of on the chair. Soon I feel free from daily concerns, and I took up my pen to write.

When I went out there I had no idea what I was going to write about. I like it that way. I like going out to the hill, looking over the little cliff towards the river, and looking deep inside to see what my current issue is. So today what came out was a column about alcoholism as a reason to take children away from their families. Oh my.

I like writing these columns in longhand. It seems some of my best writing is in longhand first. Tomorrow I'll type it into my computer, but for today I'm very happy with this new column though I have no idea how many words I've produced.

I've finally got my own hosting service for lindajomartin.com! Also, I've transferred the weblog to the new site format.
