Linda's Homeschool WebLog
Washington Times - Homegrown success: "The survey of more than 7,300 adults who were home-schooled found that among those ages 18 to 24, 74 percent had taken college courses, compared with 46 percent in the same age group among the general population. "
Homeschoolers are more likely to attend college, receive a bachelor's degree, vote, and be politically active. Read this article! Its all good!!
"...several local mothers have decided to get together to attempt to create statewide 'Family Friendly' jury duty laws" ... read all about it over at Tenn's
School@Home blog.
Paul Nowak's Cartoon Page: A little well-deserved humor at CBS's expense.
Elizabeth over at the
Homeschoolblog had some heart-warming comments about
The Velveteen Rabbit. Its all about what's real, and what matters.
From
CNS News:
Sponsor Pulls Ad from CBS News After Homeschoolers' Complaints -- 10/21/2003: "At least one sponsor temporarily withdrew advertising from the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, after advocates of homeschooling complained about last week's two-part report on the 'dark side' of the 'largely unregulated' home school movement."
Thank you, CLARITIN, for listening to our concerns!
Yay! I finally figured out how to get my blog comments working! (after months of being mystified about it) So please, comment away. I know I'm opinionated. I'd like to get your feedback!
Meanwhile... I redesigned my blog just a little to make it more compatible with smaller screen sizes. I hope that helps.
The
Happy Homeschooler did a good case-by-case response to CBS's attempt to characterize homeschoolers as possible child abusers.
Her site also has a list of
CBS News sponsors we can write to.
A Defense of Home Schooling - Hans Zeiger - MensNewsDaily.com·: "...a combination of healthy families and liberal education is the original, proven recipe for a successful society. As the institutions of both home and school have yielded their authority to an increasingly socialist government education system over the past century, the need to revive the social authority of the family has become more pressing."
I love this article... written by Hans Zeiger, 18, "...a
Seattle Times columnist, activist, and speaker...". He's an Eagle Scout too.
He ends the article by stating: "Dan Rather, Vince Gonzales, and CBS News owe an apology to America's growing home schooling movement. They misrepresented the facts, and the continuing success of home schoolers will be ample repudiation of CBS's radical agenda."
I couldn't agree more.
