Today was not the best of homeschool days. Aaron got a lot done - reading out loud to Keith, math, spelling... and Keith read to them from
Woodsong by Gary Paulsen. They watched something on TV about the Middle East for social studies. Everything went okay until math and spelling when Cimeron asserted her ability to backtalk and complain (loudly) when asked to finish out half an hour of each subject. It got really bad during spelling. She did one page then wanted to quit instead of go onto the next page. Anyhow, she got sent to her room - a very unproductive way to finish out the school day.
Yesterday they concentrated on spelling and grammar, and everything went just fine. Now the kids are back in my bedroom playing with their new Nintendo 64 game. We had another game come through the mail today. So far they have Super 64 Mario and the Super Beetle Adventure.
I cannot believe it - but my kids finally got a Nintendo game. I held out all these years. They are 11 and 12 now. I hope it doesn't have a bad effect on them. They have a Super Mario game and will be getting the Super Beetle Adventure for Christmas. Keith wanted them to have it to play with this winter, since they will be inside a lot. Because of this, we let them have the day off. Homeschool will be a far more serious matter tomorrow.
Keith doesn't know how to wait for Christmas. We could have given it to them then, but he couldn't wait that long.
